Today is an important day in the history of the Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club. April 24 marks the 38th anniversary of the founding of our club. Just think!! Over that 38 year period how much SSRC has contributed to the Scottsdale community and other communities around the work in terms of volunteer activity, financial support, the 32 years of Special Day for Special Kids events and many other activities. This is not to mention the over 7,500 meetings which have been held (rough math estimate)!! We all have much to be proud of and I look forward to the next 38 years of SSRC.
It was great to hear from the RYLA kids and their experience in Heber. The good news is that there were several freshman and sophomores in the group who can experience it again and some who wish to be counselors. The Director and some staff from Vista Del Camino Community center attended the meeting and shared information about their various programs. They truly appreciate all of our club's support from the Bread Program to Back to School to Bikes for kids. I encourage everyone in the club to sign up for at least one or two of these programs now and in the upcoming Rotary year.
This week, Hannah Prachner , the SSRC Rotary Youth Exchange Student will visit us and discuss her year in the United States as a student in high school, her activities as a RYE student in Arizona and what memories she will take back with her to Austria to share with her friends and family.
