Dear SSRC Rotarians,
Breaking News: SSRC President Change: You may have noticed that in 2016, I spent 13 weeks in Washington DC to be with our grandson Samuel,  and this year have a newborn grandson Benjamin.  In 2017, I have been in DC nine weeks, leading Rosemary and to take a residence there.  We will live in DC full-time beginning January 1, 2018.  I told the SSRC Board on October 18th, and again at our October 19th breakfast--- I obviously I will step down as Club President.
NEW SLATE: SSRC has a lot of talent!! The SSRC Board is moving quickly contacting members and will soon bring a  nomination SLATE for a vote to fill vacancies. Scottsdale Sunrise is our award-winning club because of you! BTW I continue in SSRC attending Rotary at Dupont Circle.
Speaker Follow-up : On October 19th,  Marc Ashton CEO, Foundation for Blind Children, told us about his son and the life-changing positive impact of Foundation for Blind Children.
Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club Vision Care Foundation has decided to make a donation. Marc will return to Scottsdale Sunrise on November 9th to accept. SSRC takes action in our community!
2017 Alli Ortega EMPTY BOWLS:  November 29, 2017 at Scottsdale Community College.
Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club is a major sponsor of this yearly event to feed the Hungry in Scottsdale. Wednesday, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. Contact Madge to volunteer for this event.
Note to Self:  Fireside Chat coming in November.
Membership  News:  The SSRC  Board Is moving forward with a membership initiative to aggressively use traditional and social media to reach our community and draw in new members! Steve Clasen "the Hand" heads the team including Duncan "unTIMed"  Jensen, Dave "the Fixer" Lewis, and Neil "Sumo" Sutton are steering SSRC into higher profile in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary does amazing work, and there are amazing people who will join us when we reach out.  Our membership team is us!
Speaker Basket: Contact Denns with recommendations.
Rotary Ramblings is our tool to share ideas.  Please talk to me about any ideas which you feel might promote, strengthen and better serve our community.
Yours in Rotary,

David Ortega, President, SSRC
