Scottsdale Sunrise Rotarians:
On August 3, SSRC along with the Fountain Hills, Scottsdale North, Paradise Valley,Camelback Crossroads (and a few random Rotarian who heard there may be free food at a Rotary event) met to enjoy each other's company and a few brews at the Scottsdale Beer Company for a Happy Hour event. This was the first time, since I have been a member of the club, that SSRC coordinated a meeting with other local clubs for a social event.
Over 50 people attended the event with a great showing of 14 members showing up from SSRC. Scottsdale North club even cancelled their regular meeting to come to this event instead. I noticed a number of interactions between our members and those from other clubs. This type of event will expose our members to other clubs and hopefully will allow us to partner with other local clubs for grant related projects an perhaps provide additional manpower for events which SSRC conducts in the future. I thank Michelle Holcomb and Adam Evans from the Fountain Hills and Paradise Valley clubs respectively for helping support this event.
This week, we will be joined by the principal of Yavapai Elementary School, Nancy Hudson. Nancy will discuss the impact of our dictionary project for 3rd graders and reading preparedness in elementary school.
Yours in Rotary,
Alan W. Bakst, President
