Dear SSRC Rotarians,

This week Allen Fossenkemper from the Museum of the West will be addressing the club.  Check out the MoW website for more information and visit this treasure in the middle of Scottsdale.  http://scottsdalemuseumwest.org/

Last week we heard from our Rotary Youth Exchange student Hannah Prachner.  Hannah embodies all that is good in the youth of this world.  She is energetic, adventuresome, smart, funny and just a really delightful individual.  Hannah shared her experiences with us as an exchange student at Horizon High School.  I was so happy to learn she had a great year, found her niche as a theater person and made a lot of friends (both at school and other RYE students).  I wish to thank Evie and Dennis Haberer who were instrumental in making this exchange happen, lining up her housing and sharing the sights of Arizona with her.  Also, I know that other members SSRC members spent time with Hannah locally and at RYLA.  Good luck to Hannah as she returns to her family in Austria...we will display the Rotary Tulln club flag proudly.

At the April SSRC Board meeting, several revisions to the SSRC Bylaws were proposed.  These changes require a vote and approval of the members which will take place at the May 18 meeting.  The proposed changes are as follows:

Article 6, Section 1  Fees and Dues

From: The admission fee shall by $80.00 to be paid before the applicant can qualify as a member.

To: Deletion of the Section 1.  No fees or due to be paid at SSRC application.

Article 11; Section 7:
From: The club may elect, in accordance with the standard Rotary club constitution, honorary members proposed by the board.

To:  The SSRC Board may elect or remove in accordance with the standard Rotary club constitution, SSRC Honorary members if proposed by an active member to the SSRC board.  Honorary membership is conferred in exceptional circumstances by the Board of SSRC on persons who have distinguished themselves by highly meritorious serve in the furtherance of Rotary ideals and the goals of SSRC.  An Honorary member does not pay quarterly dues to SSRC but must pay the guest meal or event fees as applicable.  Honorary Rotarians are recognized as Rotarians at the SSRC only.  They are NOT recognized by R.I. and do not pay club, district or R.I. dues.

See you Thursday.

Yours in Rotary,

Alan W. Bakst, President
