Next Sunday February 7 is Super Bowl Sunday! Scott and Tanie Sherman will host our club for a Super Bowl party at their home at 8001 N 73rd Place in Scottsdale. Kickoff is at 4:30 AZ time and Scott will open the backyard batting cage at 2:30 for those of us that want to swing wildly as baseballs fly by. Come when you want and bring a dish to share - the club will provide hamburgers, sausages, and beverages. Although we're sad the Cardinals aren't playing let's have fun together once again on Super Bowl Sunday at the Sherman's. Thank you Scotty and Tanie!
THE GOLF TOURNAMENT IS ONLY 26 DAYS AWAY! The tournament is scheduled at Starfire on Friday, February 26. All members are expected to participate in this fund-raiser. WE NEED AT LEAST 24 MORE GOLFERS, 5 MORE HOLE SPONSORS, AN ADDITIONAL $2,850 IN RAFFLE TICKET SALES, AND MORE SILENT AUCTION AND RAFFLE ITEMS. PLEASE DO YOUR PART! Additionally all members are asked to contribute a bottle of good wine in an effort to put together a collection that will bring a high price at the silent auction. The 31st annual Special Day for Special Kids on March 19 is the beneficiary of our collective fund-raising efforts.
Our speaker this week is Colorado Rotarian Tom Tudor. Mr. Tudor is an authority on the history of the Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Mr. Tudor served as a sentinel, then relief commander, at Arlington's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from February 1969 to Memorial Day of 1970. He is the President of the Society of the Honor Guard - Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Bring a guest and let's welcome Tom Tudor back to our club this Thursday.
