Fellow Rotarians,
There is no Rotary meeting this Thursday at McCormick Ranch as we have our Holiday Party Thursday evening at 6:30 at Starfire Golf Course. We will have a very nice crowd of around 60 people at the Party. Please remember to bring one gift per person attending the party. The gifts should not cost more than $20. Of course, there may be "stealing" of particularly good gifts during the gift exchange but that is what makes the exchange so much fun!
We had one of the largest crowds of the year as Tonya Watson, District Governor of 5510 visited our club this past Thursday. Tonya gave a very nice explanation and answered questions about the upcoming district merger and spoke about the benefits of Rotary membership to the Rotarian and to the communities which they engage.
Tonya also was involved with the induction ceremony for the Saguaro High School Interact club which SSRC is sponsoring. Terry Kutzbach presented an Interact Banner to Erin Dahl, Interact Advisor. Also on hand for the ceremony were John Winterstein, District Youth coordinator and Assistant District governor John Thompson.
The garage sale at Scott Sherman's house was a great success. Over $1,000 was raised through the efforts of the 15 Rotarians who helped to set up the tables, sell the merchandise and greet the people who showed up. I particularly enjoyed it as it I was able to have extensive chats with a number of my fellow Rotarians. Thanks a lot to Scott for driving the project, housing the stuff in his garage while undergoing a kitchen remodel and to all the folks who made the event successful.
See you all Thursday evening at Starfire.
Yours in Rotary,
Alan W. Bakst, President
