Last week we met at Starfire Golf Club, home of our upcoming Golf Tournament on Friday, March 23rd.  Neil Sutton provided an overview of the golf tournament with reminders to all members of opportunities to participate in the tournament through playing in the tournament, inviting others to play in our tournament, hole sponsorships, obtaining donations of exceptional items such as jewelry, resort packages, gourmet restaurant certificates, etc., for our silent auction.  Bill Adams has 50/50 raffle tickets which you may purchase or sell.  Neil also introduced us to Mamie Wood who is the new golf pro at Starfire Golf Club. Mamie gave a brief history of Starfire and additional details to help make our tournament a great success.

 

This week's program features Jeane Herschede from Amigos de Guatemala who will provide us with an update on the activities at Amigos de Guatemala and the progress of the student our club has been sponsoring for the past several years.

 

Next week (3/15) we will hear from Gary Edmonds, President and CEO, for Food for the Hungry, a Phoenix based organization providing clean water, medical aid, food, equal educational opportunities for youth, and vocational training.  Food of the Hungry was founded in 1971 and operates in over 20 needy countries throughout the world.

 

The March SSRC board meeting will be on Wednesday, March 14th at 5:30 PM at the Haberer's home. (7329 E. Carol Way, Scottsdale 85260)  All SSRC members are welcome to attend our board meetings.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP by Monday, 3/12.
