We are excited to be welcoming the Rotary District 5510 Governor Tonya Watson to our meeting this Thursday morning. Tonya will update the club on her travels to other district clubs, the impending merger of our district and share her message about Rotary engagement in our community and the world. I encourage all SSRC Rotarians to attend this Thursday's meeting. At the meeting, we will be holding a special presentation ceremony to welcome the new Saguaro High School Interact club. There are currently 12,300 Interact Clubs around the world. SSRC welcomes Saguaro High School to this family.
Saturday, a group of 14 mechanically skilled SSRC Rotarians worked with six family members and friends side by side to prepare, assemble and test out 33 bikes which will be provided to deserving children through the Vista Del Camino Community Center. We had wonderful assistance from the City of Scottsdale with Wayne from the Special Events Department and Officers Nelson and Kalkbrenner from the Police Bike Unit. Thanks to John Burgraff we also had bike mechanics Marquise and Don from Bicycle Ranch to ensure the safety of each bike. This was the best coordinated and most efficient bike assembly our club has participated in. Madge and Abby did a great job to get this event completed despite several obstacles thrown in their path. The club really appreciates the job you and your team does on service projects!!!
A reminder about the garage sale at Scott Sherman's house on December 10th. Volunteers should try to come early between 6 and 7:30 to set up the tables for the event. Volunteers are also needed to help with the purchasing and collect money. All members are welcome to participate in the garage sale. Do not forget to bring your items for sale on Thursday so Scott can take them.
