Thanks to past president Lee Dueringer for presiding at last week's meeting as I was on my way to LA. It was not a good Thursday for my (and Dennis's and Madge's) Kentucky Wildcats. It was also a bad weekend for several of our members that are big time fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes. But on the other hand it was good for UCLA fan Keith Morris and Michigan State fan Keith Walter. I think it's great fun to have so many fans in our club that are loyal to so many different teams! Several members supported the Alli Ortega Empty Bowls Event last Wednesday. Thanks to Abby and Keith Morris, Gary and Pat Sauerman, John Burgraff, Lee Dueringer, Tom Billard, Dave Lewis, and Madge and Bill Adams for attending and helping set up and take down the event. Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary is a community partner of this event that helps feed the hungry in Scottsdale. Our club's foundation donated $1,000 to this cause that honors the memory of the daughter of our member David and Rosemary Ortega. All proceeds from the homemade bowl sales go to the Vista del Camino Community Center. This Thursday we will have a quarterly club assembly at which we will elect officers for the next Rotary year that begins 07/01/2016. We'll also review our club's activities over the last six months and Olivier Wamain will guide us on a hands on tour of the SSRC website.
