Our club's annual Bicycle Project takes place this coming Saturday 11/21 at the Paiute Neighborhood Center, 6535 E. Osborn Road in Scottsdale. We'll begin at 9am and assemble 30 bicycles with the assistance of professionals from the Center's Handlebar Helpers Bike Shop. Coffee and donut holes will fuel our efforts. We need your help so please come if you can. Afterwards we'll enjoy lunch together at The TapHouse Kitchen in Hilton Village on Scottsdale Road.
Past President John Burgraff will preside at this week's meeting as I have been called to jury duty. Our speaker this Thursday is Dr. James Jackson, founder of Project CURE. Project CURE is an organization that, with the assistance of cash donations and volunteers, collects and packs in shipping containers donated quality used medical equipment and supplies. These containers are then shipped to areas of need around the world. Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club is the lead recipient of a RI Global Grant involving several Arizona Rotary Clubs in a current project to send several containers to Rwanda in Africa.
