Exciting news! After a few years of operating independently the Interact Club at Notre Dame Prep has officially re-affiliated with our club and Rotary International. Youth Services committee chair Mike Locher says we should soon see students and faculty members at our meetings and projects. As the sponsoring Rotary club we will also be asked to be active ND Interact supporters and I know we'll come through. Two Notre Dame students we sponsored to attend RYLA last spring are club officers this year.

Madge and I enjoyed completing our club's annual Back to School supply project at Yavapai Elementary last week. See our club's website for more info and a picture.

This week's speaker is James Bertz, M.D. of Uplift Internationale. Since the mid 1990's the organization has focused on providing care to children born with facial deformities, primarily clefts of the lip and palate. (See video below).

Put on your calendar Rotary Day at Chase Field, Sunday September 13. The Diamondbacks take on the LA Dodgers at 1:10pm. Tickets are $25 and a portion of the ticket price will go to Polio Plus. I'll soon send everyone an email with the specifics.

Wednesday December 2, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.: Allie Ortega Empty Bowls Benefit Sale - Scottsdale Community College. More info forthcoming.

We have no specific date for the packing of the medical supply container that's being shipped to Rwanda. Stay tuned!
