Thanks to your generosity we collected $332 passing the NY Mets hat at last Thursday's meeting for Rotary's End Polio Now campaign. That amount plus the $1500 designated by the board for Polio in this year's budget makes for a most impressive contribution. Thank you Sunrise Rotarians!
Our "First Pitch" event yesterday at The Miracle League of Arizona was a tremendous success. Pitching ace Bob Sierk, resplendent in his New York Yankee uniform, had his best stuff and was sensational! Bob and all Rotarians in attendance enjoyed the morning but it was the kids who had the best time. Thanks Evie for the great tailgate breakfast and thanks Bob for making each child feel like a winner.
This past Monday was the last member small group happy hour at Madge's and my house. It was the best attended of the three and a lot of good ideas were discussed. You'll hear more about the three sessions at our next Club Assembly scheduled for December 10. (Actually I'm considering having one more happy hour session in January so our seasonal and honorary Canadian members can attend).
Don't forget to sign up for the bicycle assembly project on Saturday November 21 from 9am to noon. We need volunteers! Non-Rotarians are welcome. See Madge Adams for details.
Our speaker this week is Danielle Casey, Economic Development Director for the City of Scottsdale. She is a Certified Economic Developer as credentialed by the International Economic Development Council.
Past president Dave Lewis will be presiding this week as Thursday morning I'll be on my way to New York City to attend game three of the World Series on Friday night! Let's Go Mets! (Sorry Bob Lawder and Jay).
