Madge and I are in Kentucky to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday where it has been warmer than it is in The Valley. Amazing! And "Oh the humidity...!!"
The annual Bi-District Conference will be held on Friday and Saturday this week in Phoenix. Our club has 5 members attending and Dennis, Lee, and I will have an active role in promoting The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA). I'm most proud of our club because we are the leading club in District 5510 in terms of the number of donors that contribute to TRVFA, we're number one in total dollars contributed, and we lead in the number of students we have sponsored. It's good to be number one and each member should be very proud of Sunrise Rotary!
Our speaker this week is our friend and Rotarian Jim Bissonett who will give us real life examples of the good work done by the dollars each of us contributes to the Rotary Foundation. Our speaker last week, Stacy Willyard, has been interviewed and subsequently recommended by our District to become a Rotary Peace Fellow so her quest remains on track. Our club initially sponsored Stacy and we wish her continued success in the next step of the process.
