Past club president Nate Cobb will lead our meeting this week as we continue the monthly practice of having a previous president wield the gavel once again. Our program will be brought to us by past Phoenix mayor Paul Johnson who will speak about open political primary elections.
I'm hosting at Madge's and my house on Monday October 5, 12, and 19 a member small group happy hour. Each "session" will be at 5:30 pm and we'll talk about what's going on with our club and district while we enjoy beer, wine, munchies, and each other's company. A sign up sheet will be passed around again this week.
Our club will officially kick off this Rotary Year on Thursday September 24 at 5:30 pm with another of our acclaimed "happy hours" at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club. As usual we'll enjoy "heavy hors d'oeuvres" with a cash bar. Members will pay nothing for the appetizers and member spouses, significant others, and family members will be billed $20.00. POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS WILL NOT BE CHARGED SO PLEASE INVITE FRIENDS YOU THINK WOULD MAKE GOOD ROTARIANS. We will not meet at 7:00 am that Thursday morning September 24. A sign up list will be passed around this week and you'll be called for your RSVP if you've not had the opportunity to respond.
