Scottsdale Sunrise Rotarians:
This week Tom Schoech provided an excellent synopsis of the article which appeared in the recent Rotary Magazine about John Germ, RI President for 2016-2017. Thanks Tom and I'm sorry about the technical issues with showing his induction speech..that would have been a nice conclusion to your report.
The Back to School event at the Scottsdale Stadium was an excellent example of how our club can provide a valuable contribution to the Scottsdale community. The SSRC volunteers organized by Madge Adams and Abbey Morris provided over 40 hours of volunteer support to the event. The grateful looks on the faces of the parents and their children said it all...Thanks for your volunteer efforts!
This week we have a social event at the Scottsdale Beer Company in the Pima Crossing Shopping Center. The event will be held on August 3 from 5:00-6:30 pm. This event is open not only to our SSRC club members but also any spouses, friends or potential members who you are welcome to invite to the event...there will be plenty of food available!!!
There will be no club meeting on August 4. The next meeting will be August 10th when we will be joined by the principal of Yavapai Elementary School, Nancy Hudson. Nancy will discuss the impact of our dictionary project for 3rd graders and reading preparedness in elementary school.
See you Thursday at Scottsdale Beer Company.
Yours in Rotary,
Alan W. Bakst, President
