On October 10th, District Governor David Simmer discussed strategies of effective Rotary clubs. David also recognized Dave Lewis with a Connecting the World Award and pin for his role in initiating and supporting international projects. Rotary Connects the World is President Mark Maloney's 2019-20 presidential theme.

On October 17th, the club heard from the founder of Global Rescue Project (GRP), Leah Stenzel. GRP is a nonprofit organization based in Arizona. Leah founded GRP in 2013 after a mission trip to Uganda/Rwanda. It was established to help end human slavery in Ghana and other parts of the world and to educate youth in the United States about poverty, slavery and the importance of education.

Club members gathered for a social event at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club on October 24th, in lieu of the traditional morning meeting.  The event was well attended, and it was great to be able to spend time with fellow Rotarians in a social setting. Thank you to Bill and Madge Adams for coordinating the event

This week, we look forward to hearing about the Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona from our very own Dennis Haberer. Dennis will discuss the great work that the Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona is doing and let us know how we can help support the organization. The best thing is that we can each have a major impact and it won’t cost anything.

Finally, a warm welcome to Rich Leibundgut who recently transferred to our club. Rich comes to us from the Mountain Foothills Rotary Club in Colorado. Rich will be working with Greg Podd to chair this year's Special Day for Special Kids event. We look forward to Rich's fellowship and support in helping us carry out our club’s projects.

Have a great week!

Regards,
Keith
