On Thursday, March 18th, we had 25 participants for our club’s bi-monthly Zoom/Hybrid meeting. We welcomed Gretchen Baumgardner, City of Scottsdale’s Water Policy Manager. Extremely informative and topical conversation for us desert dwellers. We learned a great deal about the planning that is continuously in motion to make sure we have sufficient water availability in Arizona. I have attached Gretchen’s presentation as a PDF with this correspondence.

 

Hybrid Meetings:

It has been great actually interacting with fellow Rotarians! We are scheduled again at the Hyatt House in Old Town Scottsdale (4245 North Drinkwater Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.) I will send additional meeting instructions along with our Zoom login information. We will have an upgraded sound system for those choosing to Zoom only.

 

Club Updates:

• SSRC will be donating $5,000 to the Back to School Project.

• SSRC will be donating $1,000 to the Rotary Polio Plus Program.

• SSRC will be donating $1,000 to the Alli Ortega Empty Bowls Virtual Fundraising Event. The donation is a sponsorship and we will begin the 5pm hour on March 31st. Dale Shafer recorded an interview that will play during the virtual event. I have attached the event flyer and encourage members to join in!

 

TRVFA Grant: Even though we have exceeded our goals you can still consider making a contribution to The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA). Your contribution may receive a dollar for dollar Tax Credit. (Please speak with your tax advisor for confirmation). Tax credits donations are good through April 15th2021.

Our next Hybrid (Zoom) rotary meeting is scheduled next week for April 1st, at 7:00am (GMT). Our speaker will be Chance Cozby from The Thunderbirds to discuss their charity work and the WM Phoenix Open. I will be sending out an email with connection instructions and meeting location.
