On Thursday, April 1st, we had 20 participants for our club’s bi-monthly Zoom/Hybrid meeting. We welcomed Chance Cozby, Executive Director of The Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds host the WM Phoenix Open and provide a tremendous amount of charitable contributions to the area. We learned how they were able to safely conduct the Open this year. Normally the event has a $390m economic impact in the region in-line with the Super Bowl. It was equally great to hear how they were able to donate heavily into the community with their emergency fund during the pandemic. We had 9 people in attendance and had a delicious breakfast catered by Chompie’s!
Rotary Week of Service (April 17th)
In-person service opportunity! Saturday April 17th, 9am-11(ish)am at Vista del Camino, 7700 E Roosevelt St, Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
We will cleanup landscaping around the building, including new plants/flowers and debris/trash pick-up on the grounds and nearby park areas.
- Please wear Rotary gear
- Bring your own work gloves and water
- Vista will supply any other tools and equipment needed
- Park in the lot behind the building (Family members are welcome)
- We will continue to follow appropriate guidelines and masks will be worn during the project
“Hybrid” Meeting
Another great hybrid meeting! We are scheduled for a Hybrid meeting (In-person & Zoom) next Thursday (04/15/21) again at the Hyatt House in Old Town Scottsdale (4245 North Drinkwater Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. I have booked a larger meeting room with u-shaped seating just beyond the hotel lobby (much bigger room with projector for our Zoom participants). I will send additional meeting instructions and Zoom information out as well.
TRVFA Grant: Even though we have exceeded our goals you can still consider making a contribution to The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA). Your contribution may receive a dollar for dollar Tax Credit. (Please speak with your tax advisor for confirmation). Tax credits donations are good through April 15th 2021.
