Dear SSRC Rotarians,

Hi everyone.  First I want to thank Tom Billard for leading the past two meetings while I was in Ohio and Colorado for the past two Rotary meetings.  Since I did not hear that there were any major issues the past two weeks, I assume everything went well.  I will see you all on Thursday.

Thanks for those who updated the SSRC website with additional pictures from Special Day for Special Kids.  The pics are great and really show off what our club was able to accomplish to put on a great day for many children and young adults.

SSRC is making excellent progress towards its District and Presidential Citation goals.  SSRC will be sending seven students to RYLA which is probably one of the largest contingents of any club in the District.  Our individual and collective contributions to Rotary Foundation, Polio Project and our work on the SSRC website and social media has been excellent.

Our focus for the rest of this Rotary year is to invite friends, business associates and others to visit SSRC over the next several months.  Our club has lost members for a variety of reasons in the past several months (health, family situations and relocations).  The membership committee will be reaching out to past members to see whether the situations which prompted their resignations from SSRC are still in play in an attempt to draw some former members back to SSRC Rotary.

For the remainder of the SSRC Rotary year, I would like to have one more social outing where members, spouses, friends and family can join.  At the next meeting, we will poll the members about what they would like to do, bring it to Board for approval and hold the event.  Ideas to think about are an outing to Top Golf, Octane Raceway, Mini-golf, Bowling.  Any other ideas?

Yours in Rotary,

Alan W. Bakst, President
