Community Impact:
1. Donated $5000 to Scottsdale Community Partner’s “Back to School” program. We get a matching grant from Legacy, so $10,000 goes to this program
2. Donated $1000 to Rotary District 5000 Maui Fire Relief Fund.
3. Purchased and delivered dictionaries for over 400, 3rd grade students.
4. Donated $500 to Miracle League of AZ- Wiffle Ball World Series.
5. Donated $1000 for the license plate project, which ended up getting fully funded a. Whenever someone purchases a Rotary license plate, $17.50 of the $25 will come back to our Rotary District, which helps our District fund grants.
6. Donated $500 to Scottsdale Community Partners for the families experiencing homelessness initiative.
7. Purchased and build a little over $1900 worth of bikes that got donated to Vista Del Camino for their “Adopt-A-Family” program.
8. Gave $400 for a Guatemala Scholarship
9. Donated $460 to a school we partner with in Rocky Point that helps special need’s students.
10. Suppored $525 worth of Global Grants in Mexico
a. Some examples of the projects we have funded or are in the process of funding are: i. Functional and dignified toilet service in homes for people with motor functional disabilities.
ii. Rehab a girl’s dorm.
iii. Recovery and sustainable use of water.
iv. Community health volunteers and entrepreneur training.
11. Supported Scottsdale Leadership’s ‘Project Lead It Forward’ by giving a total of $1000. a. There were 4 groups from this year’s Scottsdale Leadership Class 38 and each project received $250.
12. Gave Boys & Girl’s Club of Greater Scottsdale $1790 to support their programs- this was money raised from the Inaugural Community All-Stars Charity Basketball Game.
13. Sponsored 2 students for a youth camp called, “ Jr RYLA” (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy), for a total of $800.
14. Spent $20,078 on Special Day For Special Kids
15. $1000 for van for Family Promise- BHHS Legacy contributed $2000.
16. $1000 to polio plus.
17. TRVFA Candidates- sponsored 2 this yr:
a. Nyesha Brooks for a grant of $2,000 from The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA). These funds have been sent to the Smith Chason Nursing School, as tuition for vocational training in the Licensed Practical Nurse program with classes to start in the upcoming term.
b. Shanice Umraugh for a grant of $2,000 from The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona(TRVFA). These funds have been sent to the Paradise Valley Community College, as tuition for vocational training in the AAS Nursing program with classes to start in the upcoming term.
18. Donated $1000 to TRVFA.
19. Donated $1000 to Scottsdale Community Partners in honor of their Alli Ortega Empty Bowls Program Service Projects.
Service Projects
July - Back to School & donated happy bucks to the Day Relief Center to purchase water.
August - Sponsored Nyesha Brooks for TRVFA & participated in the Miracle League of AZ Wiffle Ball World Series.
September - Dictionary Project- handed out dictionaries to 6 schools- total of 447 students!
- Inaugural Community All Stars Charity basketball Game raised $3580, split it with BGCS, so total for our Club was $1790
