On Thursday, January 7th, we had 20 participants for our club’s bi-monthly Zoom/Hybrid meeting. We welcomed Melissa Guardaro who is the Asst. Research Professor in the School of Sustainability at ASU. Very topical conversation regarding our living environment here in AZ. Interesting to see the various methods being implemented to mitigate the “heat island” effect, increase shade, and maintain the health of folks across the valley.

CLUB UPDATES (Major Announcements Below):

Hybrid Meeting: We did it! Thank you to Dale for letting us utilize his meeting room at Ameriprise. Our first hybrid meeting went off without a hitch. We are actively looking for space with a similar setup to continue with such meetings and will keep everyone posted. Was great to see fellow members in-person, in a safe socially distanced environment!

Investment Committee (The Rotary Foundation):
Fellow Member and Past President, Jake Duffy, has received a remarkable invitation to serve as a Member of the Investment Committee of The Rotary Foundation! Jake will serve a 6-year term in this role. This is truly a major accomplishment and we are proud and honored to have Jake in this role that involves national and international impact!

Paul Harris +1:
We want to all congratulate Past President, Keith Walters, on his receipt of the Paul Harris +1 Pin!

The Rotary Vocational Fund of AZ (TRVFA):
I am truly amazed and honored to see what our club has accomplished with the fund this year. Between member donations and an incredible anonymous donation of $18,000, we have matched last year’s goal and surpassed it by an enormous margin!!! We are currently at $26,200, 238%+ over our goal!! We would all like to express our many heartfelt thanks to the anonymous donor! These funds will go to assist those who qualify for financial assistance to further their vocational studies.

TRVFA Grant: Even though we have exceeded our goals you can still consider making a contribution to The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA). Your contribution may receive a dollar for dollar Tax Credit. (Please speak with your tax advisor for confirmation). Tax credits donations are good through April 15th 2021.
