Aloha Sunrise Rotarians!

THE GOLF TOURNAMENT IS ONLY 19 DAYS AWAY! The tournament is scheduled at Starfire on Friday, February 26. WE STILL NEED AT LEAST 24 MORE GOLFERS TO MAKE OUR GOAL, AN ADDITIONAL $2,750 IN RAFFLE TICKET SALES, AND MORE SILENT AUCTION AND RAFFLE ITEMS. PLEASE DO YOUR PART! Thanks to all who are sponsoring a hole - we have exceeded our goal but we would certainly welcome more sponsors! All members are asked to contribute a bottle of good wine in an effort to put together a collection that will bring a high price at the silent auction. Please bring your wine to Thursday's meeting. The 31st annual Special Day for Special Kids on March 19 is the beneficiary of our collective fund-raising efforts.

Our speaker last week was Colorado Rotarian Tom Tudor, an authority on the history of the Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This was Tom's third time speaking to our club. If you'd like to view his first presentation online here is the link: http://www.c-span.org/video/?328471-1/tomb-unknown-soldier. The presentation is about 96 minutes long.

This week's program is Scott Hanson speaking about his book "Who is Gym?" - stories behind Arizona's high school sports venues.

Canada/US Friendship Flag

Dan McAuliffe discovered these unique flags and purchased several, thinking they'd make great gifts to share with our club's Canadian Rotarians. And right he was!

President Bill Adams has presented a flag to Sunrise honorary members Tim Koepke (in picture), Klaus Reichwald, and Jim Burns. Hopefully Glen Richardson will be with us soon to receive his flag.

Thanks Dan for making this possible and thanks to Tim, Klaus, Jim, and Glen for making SSRC your winter Rotary club.
