Fellow Rotarians,
Our speaker this week was Charissa Cleveland who is someone dedicated to helping people understand and deal with their fears. Members of the club shared some of their fears (public speaking, singing, dogs, bees, fear of failure etc.). I appreciated the honesty and openness of members during the group discussion which made for a very interesting program.
The SSRC Board will identify a date to attend a Suns game as a group. The consensus of the members is to go to a early season game (when fans are the most optimistic). More details to follow on this early in the fall.
Hannah Prachner, the SSRC Rotary Youth Exchange Student, introduced herself to the club at the meeting. Hannah is a smart and vibrant 15 year old who will be attending Horizon High School as a junior this year. We look forward for Hannah to participate in many or our SSRC service projects and activities during the year.
The SSRC Wiffle Ball roster for the upcoming Miracle League tournament is taking shape. We have 18 members signed up to participate. We are still looking for a coach/assistant...worst case scenario is that it will be me!!! Please let me know if you are interested in coaching. I have requested a morning game time on September 10 and will confirm with you as soon as I get the schedule. One last thing..we need a name for the SSRC team. Please send me an e-mail about a name or come with one to the meeting on September 8.
Finally, a reminder...SSRC will not be meeting on September 1 due to the Labor Day weekend. When we resume meeting on September 8, the speaker will be Bob Littlefield, candidate for Scottsdale Mayor.
