I hope you all are having a great weekend! My family and I just returned from a week-long vacation in Laguna Niguel,California. The weather was perfect (sunny with highs in the mid-70s), and we had a blast. I had to question my sanity when we decided to leave the ocean and return to the desert heat.

During my absence, our Rotary club participated in another very successful Back to School event.  Bill Adams was kind enough to provide the following summary and pictures:

On Wednesday, July 24th, ten club members assisted the City of Scottsdale and the Vista del Camino Community Center in their annual back to school event that provided backpacks, school supplies, shirts, pants, shorts, socks, shoes, and underwear to over 1000 in need Scottsdale students. Sunrise members worked in school supplies and girl's clothing and one of our Spanish speakers (Scott Sherman) assisted with registration. Our club's foundation was a major sponsor as it donated $5,000 and immediate club past president Jake Duffy donated $1,000, all of which was matched by the Legacy Foundation for a total gift of $12,000. Our club's name and logo were prominently displayed in the foyer of the Scottsdale Center for the Arts where the event was held.

As a reminder, our club will not formally meet on Thursday, August 1st. Instead we will organize and repack the left-over school supplies from the Back to School event. Please contact Craig Rethwill (cerethwill55@gmail.com) if you are able to assist (9:00am at Vista Del Camino).

Finally, a big "thank you" to Clark Gilhart for the great work he is doing with our social media campaign. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook and Instagram pages, and “like” and share our posts so we can get the word out about all the great activities our club is involved with!

Best Regards,
Keith
