Last Thursday,May 14,2020 we held Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club's second virtual meeting and first ever virtual board meeting. We had 23 people in attendance for our club's meeting and heard from speaker Jeri Royce, President & CEO of Esperanca. Esperanca was founded in 1970 by brothers Father Luke Tupper, MD and Gerald Tupper with a mission to provide medical treatment and support in impoverished countries. It currently operates programs in Mexico, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Peru, and Mozambique. Jeri discussed some of Esperanca's current projects and how the organization is working through challenges in the current Covid-19 environment.

Based on feedback from our board, we will continue to meet virtually every two weeks for the remainder of the 2019-2020 Rotary year. I would like to continue to offer a virtual option for members even once we are able to meet in person again. This would allow greater access to our meetings for those of us who have risk factors that may prevent us from returning before there is a viable Covid-19 treatment option. I will work with Clark and our board to explore options for implementing this for the upcoming Rotary year.

Our next virtual (Zoom) rotary meeting is scheduled for May 14th at 7:00am. I will send an email out next week with connection instructions. We are still working to get a speaker, but we will meet regardless. If you have an idea for a virtual speaker, please forward your suggestion to Clark (clark@cg-enterprises.com).

Have a great rest of your week, and I look forward to seeing you next Thursday.
