Fellow Rotarians,

On October 31st, fellow Sunrise Rotarian and The Rotary Vocation Fund of Arizona (TRVFA) Chairman, Dennis Haberer, spoke on behalf of TRVFA. The mission of TRVFA is to “partner with the Rotary Clubs in Arizona to provide assistance to the working poor in obtaining education, training, and skill development so they may, in turn, attain career-oriented employment and financial stability, and contribute to their communities”. Dennis shared a couple of success stories of individuals whose lives were meaningfully impacted and greatly improved by these scholarships. Typical TRVFA candidates are single parents (mostly female), earning minimum wage with a couple of dependent children. Education funded by TRVFA can allow these parents to increase their earning potential, to help them raise their families and help them grow the economy in Arizona.

TRVFA is funded primarily through tax credits. Individuals can contribute up to $400 and married couples filing jointly can contribute up to $800. This is a tax credit, which means that it will cost you nothing to support this organization! You are simply diverting your tax dollars to a cause that needs our help. Last year, there were some rotary clubs with member participation over 80%. As of last week, our club was just under 20% participation for 2019. I urge you to head over to trvfa.org and make your donation (i.e. divert your tax dollars) today. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to assist.

On November 7th, our scheduled speaker was sick and cancelled last minute. Although I was slightly disappointed, we ended up having a great meeting with time to socialize and catch up with fellow Sunrise Rotarians. We also inducted a new member, Dr. Danielle Vogler, and got to meet her husband, Ryan. We are very excited to have Danielle join us and look forward to her fellowship and contributions to our club.

This week we will hear from Fletcher Wilcox, Vice President of Business Development at Grand Canyon Title Agency. Fletcher will discuss the local real estate market and forecasted trends. Fletcher was one of our most engaging speakers last year, and I am grateful to have him back and look forward to hearing his updates on the market.

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Regards,
Keith
