Fellow Rotarians,

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! This week we are back at our usual meeting spot for our annual club assembly. This is the meeting where we vote on next year’s club leadership. As usual, this year’s election is expected to be hotly contested, so make sure you show up and have your vote counted!

On November 14th, Fletcher Wilcox, Vice President of Business Development at Grand Canyon Title Agency, discussed the local real estate market and forecasted trends. The meeting was well attended, and almost everyone stayed past 8:00am, eager to hear more of Fletcher’s insights. Maricopa county was again the fastest growing county in the country. Population growth coupled with low housing inventory has caused both real estate prices and rent to increase. This trend appears to be healthy and sustainable for now.

On November 21st, our speaker was Ruth Sanchez, Executive Director at Project C.U.R.E.. Project C.U.R.E. is the world’s largest distributor of medical donations to developing countries. The organization, ranked by Forbes as one of the 20 most efficient large U.S. charities, was created in 1987 by international economist James Jackson, who was horrified to discover in a Brazilian clinic that patients were often turned away due to a lack of basic medical supplies. Our club has partnered with Project C.U.R.E in the past to send medical supplies to Rwanda. We are hoping to continue this partnership, this time sending medical supplies to South America. More details to follow.

We are still under 20% for our club’s total participation in the Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona tax credit program. If you are unaware of this program, please reach out to Dennis Haberer or me to find out how you can have a dramatic impact in someone’s life with only a few minutes of your time. If you are aware of the program, but have not had a chance to take advantage of this tax credit, please visit trvfa.org to contribute.

I look forward to seeing everyone on tomorrow!

Regards,
Keith
