The following is my first installment of Rotary Ramblings! I plan to send out this newsletter bi-weekly to keep everyone informed and up to speed with our club, projects, speakers, and our meeting status. It has been an unusual start to our 2020-2021 Rotary year but a great one nonetheless! It was wonderful seeing everyone again, albeit via Zoom. We installed our newest member Bob Brunner and we are very grateful to have him join us! We also welcomed Karen Barr, Founder & Publisher of Raising Arizona Kids magazine. Fascinating discussion about how they have been able to provide families with information on how to cope with the new realities set forth by the pandemic.

Normally a President sets out a number of goals for the year but due to the current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 Pandemic such typical goals are not necessarily a reality at the moment. However, I believe we should still have some outlined even if they may be a moving target.

After speaking with fellow members and especially Past-President Keith Walters (who helped lead us through these unprecedented times) I believe our number one goal this year is member outreach and keeping everyone connected and engaged. We can also use this opportunity, while we are solely in the digital realm, to reconnect with old members and reach out to those who may want to join our Rotary family.

In order to further drive our connections with each other we will continue to make a concerted effort to provide content on our Social Media platforms (Instagram & Facebook). I humbly request that our members follow our accounts and “like” our content, leave your own comments, and/or share our content with others that may not be currently following. Please reach out to me personally if you have anything you think you would like to post.

Additionally, I would like us to continue to be creative on how we can help the community even if we can’t meet in person or in only small groups. Rotarians are people of action so please feel free to share any of your ideas. We all need to safe but we can still make a difference.

As for our normal projects and events we will continue as if they will still take place and keep a wait and see approach as the situation surrounding the pandemic unfolds.

We will continue meeting bi-weekly via Zoom until members are comfortable to meet in person again. Craig Rethwill has already lined up a number of fantastic speakers for us. Be sure to connect at our next meeting to hear from the folks from WAYMO, the self-driving car company, it should be fascinating!

I look forward to working with everyone this year and I believe that we can truly stand out and shine as a Club during these unusual times. Please feel free to reach out to me with any suggestions. I also look forward to meeting everyone in person again, hopefully sooner than later!

Best Regards,
Clark
