Just finished up our annual golf tournament at Starfire Golf Club.  What a great day with perfect weather, great food, an excellent post-golf Happy Hour, good socializing, competitive bidding on the silent auction, and triple "hole-in-ones" in the putting contest!  It was a good event for Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary and our guests.

Last week, Laura Higgs of the Camelback-Crossroads Rotary Club, gave us a great program reviewing the Caborca, Mexico Polio Plus immunization project. More than thirty Rotary clubs participated in this project, and it was great to learn that because of the generosity of Scottsdale Sunrise Rotarians, we were one of the largest contributors to the Caborca Children's Medical Fund.  Caborca is a city of approximately 60,000 residents, a little southeast of Rocky Point.  We look forward to participating with this project next year. Camelback-Crossroards Rotary Club is a satellite club associated with the Tempe Rio Salado Rotary Club.  Laura provided us some interesting insights as to how the two club work together to participate in numerous projects.

This week we will hear from Gary Edmonds, President and CEO of Food for the Hungry, a Phoenix based organization providing clean water, medical aid, food, equal educational opportunities for youth, and vocational training. Food for the Hungry was founded in 1971 and operates in over twenty needy countries throughout the world.
