Dear SSRC Rotarians,
Our speaker this week is Michele Halyard, M.D. from the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Halyard is a Radiation Oncologist and will be discussing current trends in therapies for cancer available at Mayo Clinic.
At last week's meeting, members of the ASU Rotaract club visited and presented an excellent overview of the activities they have been involved in over the past year and their excitement in assisting SSRC with the Special Day for Special Kids event in March.
A brief reminder about the Rotary Foundation 100 year Birthday party which will be held at McCormick-Stillman train park on Saturday, January 28 from 11 am-2 pm. The registration link is on the SSRC website. Spaces are still available for you, spouses, partners, friends and families to attend. There will be a host of activities for children (face painting, balloons, rides etc.) and food. I encourage all SSRC Rotarians to come to the event, support the Rotary Foundation and have fun!
We held the induction ceremony for Craig Rethwell our newest SSRC member. Dave Lewis, his sponsor and mentor, presented Craig to the members and guests and Craig shared his thoughts and excitement about joining Rotary and SSRC. Congratulations Craig and welcome to SSRC.
Finally, some of you met my brother-in-law John Heberger who attended last week's meeting. John has been a very active Rotarian for 28 years and has maintained perfect attendance during that time. Thanks to everyone who made him feel welcomed and very comfortable. He truly enjoyed his interactions with the members.
Yours in Rotary,
